How To Abide In The Hard Times

The following is a letter written in response to people who have written to us and are hitting some very serious economic hard times:

Dear Jesus - "You have promised that the economy of Your kingdom is not dependent on the world's economies" spoken to me July 2008 -- also "the Plan of God's salvation was not released and/or not loosed until Jesus was able to loose the seven seals." Spoken to me May 6, 2009: -- If we can grasp the truths of how God desires to take us into the overcoming life and especially bring us completely into the crucified life (fifth seal) of Revelation chapter six as well as chapter 14:12-13. The seven seals represent the seven experiences God has ordained for us to come into the maturity and into the fullness of Jesus, Jesus -- where were are finally abiding in Him and He in us.

Our finite minds are much too small to understand and to wrap itself around these truths and how much God truly loves us and desires every part of our lives to be completely surrendered and given over to Him. Only with His help and Power are we truly able to fully depend upon Him and trust Him - He will never fail us or forsake us. We may experience hard times and difficulties -- but we must at all times stay under the blood -- and stay surrendered and wholly abiding in Him.

The early 1980's we had to use the word of God literally in the first person - we spoke the word, declared, we prayed the word -- as we were going through some of the hardest times of my life, when work was not readily available. It was a time when I had two young children and a family to feed and the only way I knew how we would be able to change our circumstances was by the spoken word of God over our lives -- But in it all we must come to know Jesus - and must be priority #1. And after 7 years of hard times economically the Lord never did fail us! During those economic hard times we learned to live on the little what we had and also to pay off our bills (over 32,000 dollars) in 5 years. And then the Lord changed direction -- when He moved us across the country and then we saw 5 years of prosperity where we were actually able to save up over 62,000 dollars in our Retirement savings: We lived with old cars - and lived within our means -- and when we finally were able to make good money -- instead of paying taxes to the government -- I would every year borrow money and max out our Retirement Savings Plan -- thus avoiding to pay income tax. God was Good to us.. We have pretty well used up most all of that money now over the past 12 years - as the Lord launched us out and into full time ministry –

The pastorate in Rock Creek BC, Canada in 1998-99 paid 1,000 per month -- we had to subsidize our income.

In 1997 I was off work most of that year as well, as Satanist in Abbotsford literally tried to destroy us, 1996-1997 - then after pastoring in Rock Creek 1998-1999 - in 2000 The Lord divinely sends us to Africa to help set up a school for orphans.

After paying for the airline tickets -- and travel insurance $5,000 dollars we had 1,000 dollars in our pockets for the 5 month trip. (We were still able to come back with 240 in our pockets). We have had to live off of meager wages and the past several years since 1997 with very little wages and most of the time with no wages -- but God has been our help -- we may not have very much - and have never had car payments since I was married 39 years -- and we have always driven old but cars that lasted -- with no debts.

We constantly depend on the Lord -- live as frugal and have learned to live with only what money we had and not what we did not have (within our means) And no credit cards, for many years - as God has also enabled us to live by His Grace. BUT WE ARE RICH! FOR THERE IS A MAN THAT MAKES HIMSELF POOR FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD'S SAKE - BUT YET HAS HE GREAT RICHES! We have learned to serve God with everything we have, including helping Orphans and the Poor in Africa now for the past 9 years.

Priorities: #1. I desire to know Him and the fullness of His life and the power of His resurrection abiding in me and me in Him! Seek first the kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all these things will be added unto us. The glitter of this world and all the expensive toys people have, do not have any hold on us. I give all the glory to God!

Necessities yes, but not all the toys and expensive toys people have in our North American culture.

Only recently an 11 year old had a cell phone given to her by the parents for her birthday - the girl had a fit because it was not the one she wanted. The mother immediately went back and got her exactly the one she wanted. We have only the basic rates with both our phone and Internet -- and no cell phone -- that can be a blessing but also a luxury - even as I found out 5 years ago -- and was very expensive: especially when we were getting 90 dollar bills just for the cell phone -- I quickly learned not to use it any more than I had to and once the year contract was over - that was the end of that!

One elderly lady in Sturgis, Sask. Where we have been ministering now the past 5 weeks, who came out of the Great Depression during the 1930s, and was sharing with me as she was working in her garden -- I had just met her and said hello -- and she like a prophetess -- begins to tell me that when young people and teenagers get killed in the car wrecks -- and the toys the parents have given them -- she said my children never got a car until it was a need to commute from the Big City 3 1/2 hours away -- and when they were already in University. They lived at the University Grounds, but they did need a vehicle so they could come home on the week ends, etc., What caught my attention -- she suddenly said - never talked to her before - had just met her: and this is what she said: WELL MAYBE WHEN HARD TIMES COME BACK - PEOPLE WILL CHANGE.

In our North American culture -- we feel God has to give us all our wants -- as if they are truly our needs. Where is the Discipline, and where is the disciplining - where we become disciples of the Cross and the Crucified life? Following the death experience (The souls of the ones under the altar in heaven) the crucified life -- and when the 6th seal is opened -- all the natural lights -- are darkened -- there is also a great earthquake, and to me this is all about the seed that has learned to fall into the ground - and it is now dead -- to self the world and the devil -- the number of man the 666 -as all the natural elements and support systems of this life are no longer a priority --HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD: GOD IS SHAKING ALL THINGS IN THIS WORLD TO SHAKE THE WORLD OUT OF HIS PEOPLE'S LIVES! PERIOD. This is why God deals with us to bring us all to the end of our selves -- where there is nothing more left in us except HIM, His Life, and the Glory of God Abiding In us!

When we get to the 7th seal -- The angel of God has the Seal of God to seal His Servants in their foreheads --- They have now come into perfection and into the fullness of the life and glory and the power of God: where it is no longer I that lives but Christ who lives in me.

God wants every single one of us to become a Zero - to self, the ego the world, the flesh and the devil -- and once we become a Zero - the only thing left is for the Lord to rub the line out so that even the Zero is no longer seen -- but only the fullness of God's life, power and holiness and wholeness in us.

As the people of God -- we must abide and come into Him and Him alone! I share this all by the love and the grace of God --- until we live and move and have all of our beings in Him and Him alone. Your brother - - and a Friend of God -- Desi Jakab
