Super Storms Roar Through Philippines
December 7, 2006 Update
As most of you are probably aware, within the last several months the Philippines has been hit by a swarm of super typhoons, which is highly unusual for this time of year. The strength and devastation of these storms caught the entire nation by surprise. On December 1, President Gloria Arroyo declared a State of National Calamity after Typhoon Durian hit Luzon with 190 mile per hour winds, leaving an estimated 1,000 dead and 700,000 homeless. All four of the recent super storms hit the capital island of Luzon like a string of pearls hitting the same target, leaving behind a trail of utter devastation in their path.
My apologies for the long silence from our ministry, our family was hit extremely hard by the last storm. The home that we were renting is now buried under several feet of water, and most of our belongings were destroyed in the storm. Our ministry was not the only ministry hurt by the storm. Many churches and missions organizations across the nation now lie in shambles and will have to face the challenge of rebuilding again from ground zero. US-based ministry SEND International was hit extremely hard. On the island of Marinduque, where SEND has worked for many years, eighty percent of the homes were destroyed, with over 100,000 people affected on this island alone. All of SEND's missionary bases on this island were totally destroyed.
This is not the first time our family has been displaced in the Philippines due to natural disasters, which is one of the draw-backs on living in a region that is hit by 20 to 30 typhoons a year. For all of the churches and ministries in the Philippines who have taken great losses from the recent typhoons, I'm sure I speak for them all when I say that it was worth the price. We serve the people of the Philippines not for ourselves or worldly gain, but for the glory of God and the establishment of his Kingdom in the earth. Just one soul saved is worth all of the homes built upon a thousand hills.
On the first day of December, after our family checked into a hotel room with whatever belongings we could salvage, I took a shower and collapsed on the bed. In the twinkling of an eye, I found myself in the Spirit overlooking the beautiful hills of California. My eyes were fixed upon kingly homes built upon the lush green hills overlooking the Pacific. They were the finest of homes, built of the finest of wood, carefully crafted and of royal design. I saw a long line of people, refugees, leaving the homes in great haste as a tsunami approached. When the tidal wave hit the hills, a great splash arose into the air a thousand feet high, and many of the refugees perished under the raging torrents of water. In one hour, every home was destroyed. The tsunami was followed by another tsunami, and then another, as the borders of the coast began to recede. Many hills disappeared under the water like piles of sand, as the sound of the waves echoed like thunder through the foothills. To the north, smoke arose from erupting volcanoes, while flashes of lightning could be seen in the billowing clouds of ash that arose high into the heavens over the West Coast of America.
Homes do not last, but souls are eternal. Are you willing to give up everything you own for the Kingdom of God, in exchange for a mansion in heaven? If God told you to leave your home today, and give up your life for the sake of the harvest, would you be willing to follow the cross at any cost? Not only is obedience crucial for your survival in the days ahead, but crucial in averting and delaying judgments, for the glory of God released through the sacrificial obedience of one person can change the destiny of an entire nation. God is not willing that one should perish, and takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. Many of the great judgments which America is about to face can be averted if only a small remnant are willing to pay the price and stand in the gap for the sake of the harvest in America.
America is not the only nation on the brink of judgment. Wickedness has risen up like a stench before the nostrils of God, and is about to be answered with great judgments unless a remnant stands in the gap, and begins to change the atmosphere of nations through the glory. On December 1, I was shown horrible atrocities and crimes that were being committed around the world behind the scenes – great wickedness from Asia to America, and from Africa to Australia – no nation was exempt. Unless there is repentance, great cataclysms are about to manifest without warning.
I will be returning to America during February - March, and will be traveling to California, Texas, Ohio, New York, and other areas to intercede for revival and a release of the glory of God in these regions – the GLORY changes everything! It erases judgments, restores what was lost, and creates a new beginning for nations on the verge of disaster. Our family would like to wish you a Merry Christmas from the Philippine Islands, and pray that the upcoming year would be a year of breakthroughs, health, prosperity, and great opportunities for advancing the Kingdom of Heaven in your region.
Blessings,

PS - During the holiday season, most of our friends are out of town visiting family, which means that our mission's support often drops to zero. Since Thanksgiving, our ministry's PO Box has been empty almost every day, which makes the timing of this week's disaster extremely challenging for us in the Philippines – your support is greatly appreciated!
