People In Bondage

Vera Csada

Hi, I was thinking about a recent sermon that was preached about how sin causes suffering. The preacher prayed for those that wanted prayer afterwards. I was very upset as he never even hinted that suffering isn't always caused by sin! That was over a month ago now, and I couldn't stop thinking about it.

Now, I realize that this is the kind of sermon is used by the enemy to keep people who are suffering in bondage. It will keep people from getting victory in their spiritual lives because they will always think that they are not good enough. It keeps them bound to 'the church' and I think that this is a scheme from our adversary the devil that preachers use and think that it is alright.

I also believe that there are many other sermons leaders preach that only give half truths in order to keep the people in subjection to themselves and the church, and to keep them downtrodden, and trusting in men rather than trusting in the Lord.

Can you see what confusion this simple little omission can cause with people who are suffering, and how it can heap more suffering upon those that are already suffering? Also it will cause those that are not suffering to have disdain for anyone who is suffering! No wonder we don't see any compassion in the church! No wonder the leadership can get away with taking all of the ministry unto themselves as if they are the only great heroes that can do it!

Then they will brag about it.. they tell how they are going to be serving the Lord in ministry until they get taken home. This has caused some that know that God has called them into ministry to be bound and suffering at the hands of those that are in ministry. Too many times I have seen how no one else can do anything spiritual in ministry around these who are the ones in leadership. Have you ever heard of someone saying that if they can't do anything for the Lord they may as well just die? There have been many ways of the church that have kept people in bondage, while leadership manifests themselves as the "saviors" of the people!

The leadership proclaims to be the covering of all of the people, and without this 'covering' they have no right of passage to minister! Do you think that God may not be very well pleased with these leaders? How do you think that these leaders would react to Jesus coming and overturning some tables!?

I believe that they many would react the same way the chief priests did in that day! They asked Jesus, 'by what authority do you do these things?'
