A Revelation Of Hell

I was sat at my computer this morning looking at an email about hell. It quite took my attention for a while, I was intrigued to read of men who believed they had discovered hell. It was a chilling email to read, however the site was bogus, but, it stirred something within me and I began to think about the concept of Hell and what we as Christians and none Christians believe. We need to get into the word of God to see for ourselves what it teaches about hell, so that we can be sure that we are able to tell others just what to expect if they die without Jesus in their hearts.
The church is often guilty of hiding the reality of hell, and yet it is one place where each of us has to potential to be sent to one day unless the Son has set us free.
We live in a society where many people do not believe in Hell anymore, or even that the devil exists. Many others believe that when we die that its the end, that our bodies go back to the dust and that’s it.
There are also those who do believe that hell exists and that the devil is in charge, they don't realise that everyone there will be bound to it for eternity including him. that no one is in charge.
Can you image a place devoid of God, can you imagine the anguish and the suffering forever knowing that you could have made a choice in life that would have kept you out of this place but pride, and unbelief snatched it from your grasp. Many people have questioned me over the years about the existence of hell, and have said “if God is such a loving God why would he send people to hell” I simply say “He never chooses to send anyone, we each make that choice through free will in life”.
As I pondered these things suddenly the reality of the Heavenly host at the birth of Jesus made more sense to me. Not only were they announcing the birth of the saviour, but they were excited, they were beside themselves with love, compassion, joy, as they saw first hand the fullness of the Godhead come down to earth to save mankind from this picture of eternal torment. The heavenly host understood the implications of this event more than we can ever imagine.
HERE IS LOVE vast as the ocean, Dma Gariad fel y moraidd one of the most beautiful hymns, you have to hear it sung in Welsh its so wonderful, choristers shed tears of emotion as they sing it out with fervour and vigour, World HERE IS LOVE, are we truly hearing this.
The Angelic host proclaiming the birth of the Saviour, knowing that the event was of such importance to us, that death would be conquered forever, and that a new chance, a chance of life was being poured out upon us all.
We have forgotten that the reason Jesus came was to glorify the Father the one who sent Him, and to share with us His heart, that the Father doesn’t want to lose us to eternity, but wants us with Him, in a place He has prepared for those who love Him.
The Father, wants us He cannot bear to think of an eternity without us. Do we really understand the Fathers heart as He sent love personified in the human body of Christ, do we fully recognise the implications of the birth of one so innocent and who remained innocent, even though he lived in a sinful world alongside us, and it did not taint Him. How can that be, and yet its truth and life to us, because this spotless lamb was led to the cross, the key to unlock our future in eternity with Him.
We can celebrate the birth of Christ with great joy, knowing that the Father is doing everything possible to save the lost
What are we doing, are we being honest about what we know to be true, or are we papering over the Hell thing, led astray by the teachings that hell is not what its all made out to be.
I tell you this, if it is not, then why put your own son through such pain to redeem us. Hell has never changed, we have, our doctrine has to suit ourselves so that we can live more easily not having to think about it in the way its truly portrayed in the word. The word does not, and will not change, the meaning of the words in Hebrew Greek English, whatever will forever be etched on paper for all to see the reality of it. We must ensure that we teach this alongside the love, alongside the gifts, the miracles and the signs and wonders, because this is at the very heart of the Gospel, this is why Jesus came.. We must etch it upon our own hearts so that we can enable others to see more clearly the purpose of a saviour.
Let this coming year be a mixture, a serendipity of what we have been shown, the bitter mixed with the sweet, lets not forget the cost of the life laid down so that we could live, lets not forget the reality of hell, lets not forget that we are the ones raised up in these last days to point the way to salvation through Jesus. Lest we forget.
In the love of Jesus
