Mel Gibson - King Cyrus of Babylon

Recently I had a phone conversation with Henry Parker of Haven Mission in Virginia. Henry shared with me that the Lord had shown him that Mel Gibson was as King Cyrus.

The LORD stirred up the spirit of Mel Gibson just as he once stirred up the heart of a Babylonian king. King Cyrus was stirred by the LORD to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. The temple in Jerusalem had previously been laid in ruins by the Babylonians. King Nebuchadnezzar had destroyed the house of God and taken all the treasure from the house of God to a Babylonian temple.

Ezra 1:1, 5:13 - 15: Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing,

"However, in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, King Cyrus issued a decree to build this house of God. Also, the gold and silver articles of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple that was in Jerusalem and carried into the temple of Babylon; those King Cyrus took from the temple of Babylon, and they were given to one named Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor. And he said to him, 'Take these articles; go, carry them to the temple site that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be rebuilt on its former site.'

The king of spiritual Babylon has robbed the people and taken many captive. The treasures of the temple have been carried away and the people caused to live in Babylonian ways. God is ready for His people to come out of Babylon (Babylonian ways). He is ready for a people who will rebuild the temple. God desires the treasures of gold and silver vessels to be returned to the Jerusalem temple (The New Jerusalem).

God has again stirred the heart of a man to begin the process of returning what has been taken to Babylon. Mel Gibson's powerful film is bringing the reality of the cross back to the house of God. The foundational treasure of the reality and significance of the cross has been tucked away in Babylonian temples and now is being presented back to the people.

The crucifixion is the ultimate message of Love. The love of God is the foundation of life and is fully demonstrated for all mankind to see in the demonstration of the self sacrifice of Jesus at the cross. The crucifixion of Christ Jesus is the one pivotal point of all history. It is the foundation of the power of the kingdom of God. Even the power of the resurrection rest in the willing sacrifice at the cross. The first step in returning the treasures to the church is the experience of absolute identification with the reality of the crucifixion.

God did not choose a pastor or a priest to return the treasure to the temple. He needed a man with position and power in Babylon. A man that He could stir up to decree the rebuilding of the house of God and return the treasures to the people of God. He chose Cyrus a ruler from Babylon of old and He chose Mel Gibson form the Babylon of today. King Cyrus put his proclamation in writing - Mel Gibson put his proclamation on the big screen.
