"The President, the Crusades, and the War on Terror"

December 18, 2004

Recently, the Lord has been reminding me of the crusades (1099-1300 AD), in which our Christian forefathers warred against the Muslims and Jews, in the name of the church, to take control of the Holy Sepulcher and Jerusalem. Everywhere I went I would see or hear something about the crusades.

Since my previous word to you about the dream I had of a possible attack on our president, I have been seeking the Lord for wisdom. So many of you have been so faithful to respond to this word with loving prayer for our beloved president. I thank you for your response in faithfulness to him; may God richly bless you.

As I became more and more intrigued by the history of the crusades, I began to feel there was a connection between the crusades and my dream about the president and the war on terror. This was primarily because we had been attacked by Muslims on 9/11 and Christians had attacked Muslims during the crusades.

As the Lord continued to speak to me about the connection between them, I came across Rick Joyner's book, "Epic Battle of the Last Days."

In it, Rick gives a fairly detailed description of some of the events that happened during the crusades. He tells an account of the crusaders, fighting in the name of our Savior, taking the holy city of Jerusalem on January 13th of 1099 with an army of 600,000 soldiers.

WE MUST REPENT AND TURN THE TIDE

As the holy city fell into the hands of the crusaders, the Muslims and Jews residing in the city sought amnesty under the Christian banner, which had been promised to them. As they were surrounded by the crusaders, the Muslims and Jews were slaughtered by them. Many of them fled to the synagogue of the city for refuge, but the crusaders then set fire to it, killing everyone inside.

When I read this account of the massacre of Muslims and Jews, in my mind I saw the Twin Towers ablaze in New York City -- I saw the two incidents as being connected. I felt the Lord say, "What men reap they will sow!" In the last days, all that has been sown in the name of Christ, will be reaped.

As the church of Christ, we are to reveal salvation to the world! However, to the Muslims of Jerusalem in the aforementioned account, we were not salvation, but destruction. We did not sow salvation, but destruction. We must end the cycle of destruction by repenting for the sins of our forefathers. We must repent of it and turn the tide; we must become the ambassadors of salvation to the world.

THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAYING FOR OUR PRESIDENT

I believe that is what President George W. Bush is doing. He has waged a war on terror to deliver those caught in its grip. His goal is not to take over Iraq and declare it a province of the United States, but to liberate it, stabilize it, and gradually pull out, allowing them to stand on their own. This was his established goal.

The media has really been horrible in its depiction of the war on terror. But, if you talk to the service men over there, they tell a different story. They tell us that good has been done and the majority of the Iraqis see the U.S. as its deliverer. Most of them see President Bush as the "good guy" and they are thankful to him and us for our sacrifice.

I believe that what was tragically committed against the Muslims in 1099 and throughout history by the church has been, to a degree, "undone" by the actions of our president in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. His actions there are breaking strongholds over that region that will have an eternal effect.

By doing this, the president has become a huge target for the enemy. This is why our prayers for him are so important!

GOD IS BREAKING STRONGHOLDS!

After the recent elections, there was a great spiritual backlash against him and his administration; the enemy is terrified of George W. Bush and will do anything to keep him from completing his task in Iraq and with the Muslims. Satan is terrified and knows that after centuries of sowing hatred and divisions between Christians and Muslims, he is now actually losing his grip on their hearts and minds.

Many of them are beginning to see clearly the real reason for Christ's coming: to save, not to destroy. God is breaking strongholds of centuries of demonic occupation over that region and the light of Christ is beginning to shine through. Hallelujah!

All of these occurrences are happening because the church is realizing its true calling of love and prayer -- it is determined to turn the tide. However, the focus of the enemy's assault is not necessarily on the body of Christ at large, but primarily is being focused on one man: George W. Bush. The enemy knows if he can take him out, he may stop the current progress of the kingdom of Light, or at least slow it down.

THE PRESIDENT, THE CRUSADES, & THE WAR ON TERROR CONNECTION

So, we come to the connection between the crusades and President Bush.

You and I did not attack the Muslims -- we did not wheel the swords or start the fires, but our spiritual ancestors did, and if these sins are not repented of, we will be affected by them. Our spiritual forefather sowed seeds of destruction in the lives of the Muslims and Jews, thereby giving hell access to drive a wedge between Christians and the Muslims and Jews.

A stronghold was created and it must come down, and we, the church, are the only ones who can accomplish this task. We must humble ourselves and repent for the sins or our spiritual forefathers. We must soberly and sincerely disarm the powers of darkness with the powers of forgiveness, repentance, and humility. This is not the time for excuses or pride, but humility and love.

We are not at war against the Muslims, but our battle is with the powers of darkness that hold them in bondage. Our weapons are not the weapons of our enemy, but they are infinitely superior; they are the weapons of repentance, forgiveness, and mercy.

The war in Iraq needs to come to an end, but we cannot pull out prematurely or we will just have to go back again in another ten years. Our work there must be completed soon and the strongholds of that region broken!

THE "TUG-O-WAR" IN THE SPIRIT REALM MUST STOP

Of course, darkness and light are not represented by religious stance. Many professing Christians have been deceived and are actually praying and prophesying against the president and the war in Iraq. The power of these words and prayers act as curses and, combined with the curses of others, be they Muslim extremists, or Satanists, make up a great deal of the battle we face in the supernatural realm.

As both sides of this battle curse or pray for the president, a sort of "tug-o-war" affect is created in the supernatural realm. Our prayers are far more effective than the enemy's, and as we prevail in prayer, we see a great victory in the natural, but as we back off our prayer vigil, the enemy advances.

This tug-o-war in the spirit realm must stop; we must have a decisive victory -- for the Iraqis as well as our beloved President.

Many things are hidden in the natural that must come to light. But first we must uncover the sins that are still active in the spirit realm, that have not been uncovered and repented of.

This can only be done through humility. If we repent for the sins of our spiritual forefathers, we will see a great stronghold come down. But we must not stop there...we must also truly forgive the Muslim nation as a whole for their acts of terror against us, in the past and the present. Not that we do not hold our attackers accountable, but through the power of forgiveness we can break the curse that hangs over them.

HOW WE CAN DEFEAT THE WAR OF DESTRUCTION AND OPEN THE WAY TO SALVATION

The war of destruction must stop and it must end by our act of humility and mercy. So, dear saints, what I am asking you to do is:

1. Repent for the sins of Christians against Muslims.

2. Forgive the Muslims for their sins against us, past and present.

3. Repent on behalf of Americans who are speaking against our president.

4. Target the words of accusation and condemnation against our president, the war on terror, this nation, and the church that have been released into the spirit realm. Rebuke those words and strip them of their power to be affective. Through your prayers and blessings, build a wall of protection around the President, his staff, the White House, America, our soldiers in Iraq, and Afghanistan and the people of that region.

Thank you church, God is proud of you -- you are His beloved bride, His army of love, His soldiers of Light. May God bless your efforts to target the enemy and tear down the strongholds of darkness.
