Uriah The Hittite
In the following verses Rahab is given special mention as the "mother" of Boaz. The same recognition is given to Ruth the "mother" of Obed. This of course is the genealogy of Jesus Christ, covering three 14 generation periods, who was conceived of God through Joseph and Mary.
But the focus of this article is an individual who is often overlooked by teachers of the word, who tend to emphasize king David in the text, Uriah the Hittite. In Mat 1:6 the Holy Spirit mentions his name specifically in place of Bathsheba. What is the Spirit saying here?
[Mat 1:4] Ram the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon, [Mat 1:5] Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse, [Mat 1:6] and Jesse the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife,
[Mat 1:16] and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. [Mat 1:17] Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.
What do we know about Uriah; what has been taught countless times over the pulpit; where has the emphasis been? On David of course, the man after God's heart and on Bathsheba, the adulterous wife of a very honorable, faithful servant of God. Uriah was one of David's 30 mighty men [1Ch 11:41], who was conspiratorially murdered by the leaders he faithfully served. God however has not overlooked him as we have seen in Mat 1:6.
[1Ch 11:41] Uriah the Hittite, Zabad son of Ahlai,
Listen to what the Spirit is saying, David was precious in the eyes of the Lord "except" in this one case. [1Ki 15:4] Nevertheless, for David's sake the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem by raising up a son to succeed him and by making Jerusalem strong. [1Ki 15:5] For David had done what was right in the eyes of the LORD and had not failed to keep any of the LORD'S commands all the days of his life--except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.
Nathan was used of the Lord to expose David's sin. The Spirit in which I write this article is the same. There is adultery between the bride of Christ and His "shepherds" (David was not only king but also priest and prophet).
[2Sa 12:7] Then Nathan said to David, "You are the man! This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. [2Sa 12:8] I gave your master's house to you, and your master's wives into your arms. I gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more. [2Sa 12:9] Why did you despise the word of the LORD by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.
[2Sa 12:10] Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.'
American Church repent of your adulterous relationship with your king. It is a Time of War against the "...ites" who would try to hinder the purposes of the Living God for this hour. Return to your true Husband, who even now sits on His throne with the earth as His footstool. The "attack" against you awakened you but you should not have been slumbering in your bed of iniquity. There are "mighty ones" in your rank and file that refuse to forsake the ark of His presence in the field of battle.
[2Sa 11:11] Uriah said to David, "The ark and Israel and Judah are staying in tents, and my master Joab and my lord's men are camped in the open fields. How could I go to my house to eat and drink and lie with my wife? As surely as you live, I will not do such a thing!"
Shepherds repent, you will not die, the Lord has removed your sin. As a result of this sin the enemy has contempt for the CHURCH but He will remove the spot and the wrinkle. The glory of the latter house will be greater than the former house.
[2Sa 12:13] Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." Nathan replied, "The LORD has taken away your sin. You are not going to die. [2Sa 12:14] But because by doing this you have made the enemies of the LORD show utter contempt, the son born to you will die."
