Enemies Or Enablers?
I am seeing something incredible and my whole perspective on life has just changed in the last few minutes. I am going from being a 'victim' to being a 'victor'. Not one of my circumstances has changed in the last few minutes, but my 'enemies' have just become my 'enablers'. I'm sure that many have seen this long ago, and I've even seen little glimpses of it, but it's now surging to life inside me. I'll explain...
Consider the enemies of Jesus Christ; they spent much effort in convincing and conspiring for three years until He was finally brought before Pilate. Because of His enemies' efforts He was severely beaten... thus enabling Him to fulfill Isaiah 53:5 "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
His enemies became His enablers.
Because of His enemies efforts, He was crucified... thus enabling Him to set all of humanity free from sin and death.
His enemies became His enablers.
Without this enemies, He could not have fulfilled His destiny which was cloaked in "the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would NOT have crucified the Lord of glory." (1 Cor. 2:7-8)
There are a number of things in my life that I have viewed as 'enemies'; things to hinder my destiny. I've often viewed 'time', or rather the lack of it, as an enemy... it's challenging working a full time job and doing ministry full time also. In reality, this 'enemy' has become my enabler, as it has trained me to be very efficient and prioritize my activities. Everything I do must be measured against God's purposes. Were it not for this 'enemy', I would be a time-waster! I've often viewed living in a small Midwestern American town that could be described as the spiritual 'back side of the desert' as an 'enemy'. In reality, this 'enemy' has enabled me to maintain a perspective that relates to a vast majority of people, as so many seem to be tucked away in obscurity.
Then there are those spiritual enemies that really ARE enemies, not just perceived enemies, that are seeking to harm or destroy me. Even the powers of darkness (the devil himself, if you will) have become my enablers... for my destiny is to be an overcomer and victor, they simply provide something for me to overcome. Truly, if God is FOR me, who can be against me? (Rom. 8:31) That passage has taken on new meaning, for even those AGAINST me are enabling me to fulfill my destiny.
Tall as I may be in spirit, my physical stature remains a bit squatty, so when I want to reach something high around the house I use a very ingenious device... a footstool. The footstool allows me to reach things I couldn't reach otherwise. The footstool enables me to reach new heights...
He has made my enemies my FOOTSTOOL!
It is upon the 'footstool' of our enemies that we are enabled to reach the 'high calling' of our destiny in Christ. Yes, the enemies are very real and would seek to destroy us if possible, and many times even remain our enemies (they don't outwardly appear to be subdued) as we tread upon them as a footstool... yet they are our enablers.
What enemies are you facing right now? Have you considered that they may well be the enablers of your destiny? Am I suggesting that we live in some kind of Christian 'la-la land', ignoring our enemies and pretending they don't exist?... certainly NOT! The kingdom of darkness that seeks to hinder, delay, steal, kill, and destroy your destiny and your very life is a real and present danger. Understand, however, that your destiny is to be an overcomer, releasing breakthrough in your surroundings and circumstances. You would never be an overcomer without something to overcome... never see breakthrough without something to break through... your enemies are your enablers! We may not like this fact, but "we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God." (Acts 14:22)
As we come into this understanding that "If God be FOR US" (in other words, it is His will that we fulfill our destiny as overcomers) then even those AGAINST us are FOR US, enabling our destiny! So much for the 'powers of darkness', huh?.. every evil plot can ultimately back fire! Yes evil is real, it is dangerous, it can bring death and destruction; this is no 'game' or 'mind trip'... this is simply understanding and believing in the sovereignty of the Almighty and the authority of the believer. As we press forward in accessing our destiny, let us tread upon our enemies as footstools, that we may reach the high calling of manifesting the dominion of Christ in all things
