Dear Friends,
On Sunday morning Pastor Kilpatrick preached an excellent sermon concerning the end times and the connection between Joseph and Yeshua. He said that the day before he was in tears on and off all day over the Palestinian desecration of Joseph's tomb. At the end of the service there was extended prayer for Israel. Thank God that this church, which is respected internationally has taken such a bold stand for Israel.
Yesterday, I led a Yom Kippur prayer meeting at BRSM for Israel. We had over 100 people come. While reading Ps. 2, the Spirit of God came upon me in the form of Holy anger. I was thinking about the UN resolution condemning Israel.
Ps 2:1-2 1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One.
What a picture of the U.N. Security Council on Saturday. The kings and rulers gathered to condemn God's people. This hypocritical body, who refuses to condemn China for murdering hundreds of students, seeks to reprove Israel for defending herself. In standing against Israel, they stand against "Yahweh and His Anointed One" Yeshua. In context, Psalm two is referring to who has authority over the Land of Israel and who rules the Nations. For God says:
6 "I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill." and
8 ...I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You will rule them with an iron scepter;
GOD'S RESPONSE
How does God respond to those who misuse the authority He gave them? Is he concerned? Is He Intimidated by the kings of this earth? Does He get nervous in the presence of Kofi Anam or President Clinton? Does he bow in the presence of "Chairman" Arafat?
Ps 2:4-5 4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. 5 Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath...
If God is laughing and mocking the Clintons, Putins (Russia) and Zemins (China) of this world, then Israel should be at peace. The truth is that Israel could respond to the Palestinian rage in any way she desires and the Kings of this earth can do nothing without God's permission. These men walk about arrogantly as if they will not have to answer to God.
In the days of Hezikiah, there was another King who was sure he could do as he willed to the daughter of Zion. King Sennacherib tried to intimidate Hezikiah even as the Islamic nations have threatened Israel with a Holy War:
Isa 37:10-11 10 "Say to Hezekiah king of Judah: Do not let the god you depend on deceive you when he says, 'Jerusalem will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.' [or Palestinians] 11 Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely. And will you be delivered? (emphasis mine) What was God's response?
Isa 37:22-35 22 this is the word the LORD has spoken against him: "The Virgin Daughter of Zion despises and mocks you. The Daughter of Jerusalem tosses her head as you flee. 23 Who is it you have insulted and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel! 24 By your messengers you have heaped insults on the Lord. And you have said, 'With my many chariots I have ascended the heights of the mountains, the utmost heights of Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars, the choicest of its pines. I have reached its remotest heights, the finest of its forests. 28 "But I know where you stay and when you come and go and how you rage against me. 29 Because you rage against me and because your insolence has reached my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth, and I will make you return by the way you came...
(Interesting use of the word RAGE here, as the Palestinians recently called for a DAY OF RAGE against Israel, which of course includes the God of Israel.)
32 For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. ... 35 "I will defend this city [Jerusalem] and save it, for my sake and for the sake of David my servant!" And what happened?
Isa 37:36 36 Then the angel of the LORD went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning-- there were all the dead bodies!
OH GOD, ONCE AGAIN SEND YOUR ANGEL TO PROTECT YOUR PEOPLE ISRAEL! AND YOUR HOLY CITY JERUSALEM! Mt. ZION
Going back to verse 6 in Psalm 2, the Lord says that He has installed His king on Zion. This is the same area that the Lord referred to in verse 32 and 35 above. It is quite amazing--this entire battle is over a hill. A hill over which both God and satan are fighting. The entire world is in an uproar over a small mountain in the Old City of Jerusalem. Mt. Moriah, where Abraham nearly sacrificed Isaac and where the ancient Temple stood, has brought the world and its leaders into a furor.
It is a real proof the that the God of the Bible IS God. For it was He who said, "I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling." (Zech 12:2) There are many cities of more significance in the natural: Moscow, New York, Tokyo--but it is little Jerusalem that has the Kings of the World up in arms (literally).
PRAY that Israel does not go down to Egypt (man) for help. Pray that she stands strong and take orders from above. President Clinton, who humiliated Israel by not vetoing the UN Resolution (EVEN HIS WIFE PUBLICLY CRITICIZED HIM FOR THIS DECISION.) is trying to get Barak to come to Egypt for a summit. Long ago God warded Israel: 1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the LORD. (Isa 31:1)
This is whole "peace process" has been a human effort to solve something that only God can solve. I realize now that my whole view of the peace process has been HUMANISTIC. Even though I know better, I would battle feelings like "Israel has to make concessions or the Arabs will attack." The fact is that the Arabs will attack either way! The way of man has not borne the fruit that was promised. Only in following God's plan will Israel have peace. Pray that Israel not give in to the humanistic, even demonic, plans of the Kings of this world.
The God of Israel shall prevail!
For the Salvation of Israel and the Nations, Ron Cantor
