CLINTON ADMINISTRATION / 106TH CONGRESS

PRESIDENT MAKES LATE NIGHT CALLS TO ATTEMPT WASHINGTON BARAK / ARAFAT MEETINGS - President Clinton asked Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak to meet separately with him at the White House to attempt to find grounds on which to restore calm to the violence-wracked region. Over the weekend, Barak announced that the peace process was "on hold" while Arafat publicly urged him to "go to hell," and called upon Palestinians to continue their intifada (militant uprising). Over 140 are dead in the month-long conflict. An Arab Summit ended with a broad condemnation of Israel but with a surprisingly moderate conclusion that war must be deterred. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Barak expects an immediate challenge to his government when the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament, reconvenes this Sunday. Neither Arafat nor Barak have agreed to President Clinton's proposal for Washington meetings. Continue to pray from Psalms 2 and Psalms 76:1-3, 12. PENTAGON PLACES U.S. FORCES ON HIGH ALERT IN TERRORIST THREATS - The Pentagon put American installations on highest alert yesterday in the nations of Turkey, Bahrain and Qatar for fear of terrorist attacks. The Pentagon says there is specific intelligence that terrorists may be targeting those installations. CBS news said "The alert status, known as Condition Delta, is equivalent to being placed on battle footing." Pray for the men and women who serve our nation's interests on foreign soil. Pray that those who go to do evil would find their every effort thwarted.

NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY WARNING ARRIVED TOO LATE - The NSA issued a top secret report on the day that the USS Cole was bombed, warning that terrorists were planning an attack in the region, according to the "Washington Times." Independent investigators want to know what could have been done to prevent the attack.

SPENDING BILLS DELAY ADJOURNMENT AGAIN, STEM CELL RESEARCH ACT DROPPED - With no adjournment resolution in process, the U.S. Congress is under pressure to finish three spending bills by midnight tonight, or to pass day-by-day continuing resolutions to keep the government "open." Three spending bills are still in process, but only one, a mammoth $350 billion bill to fund Education and Health Services, is still hotly debated by White House and Congress. The bill still contains the CHILDREN'S INTERNET PROTECTION ACT (H.R. 4600), which would require any libraries receiving federal funding to install filtering software on computers that are accessible to children. A bill to legalize STEM CELL RESEARCH was withdrawn and will wait for the next session of Congress. A SMUT FILTERING BILL that would mandate blocking pornographic sites from access by children failed in committee after testimony that current technology does not accurately filter pornographic sites.

CAMPAIGN 2000

MANY CANDIDATES FACING DOWN-TO-THE-WIRE CONTESTS; MANIPULATION, FEAR-INDUCING DISTORTION, BIAS, FALSIFIED REPORTS AND DIABOLICAL TECHNIQUES INCREASING - Campaign 2000 is truly a picture of how our nation is divided and "hanging in the balance." Many races, including the presidential contest, are "too close to call." Political party strategies and tactics, rhetoric, media reporting and rallies are becoming distorted, angry or hateful in spirit, biased and manipulative. While heightened and carnal emotions and extremely partisan positions must be expected and are a normal occurrence in the political arena, the implementation of hateful, perverse and diabolical techniques is "unmasking" the spiritual contest and warfare going on in the unseen realms. (Ephesians 6:12)

Christians are often naive or fail to discern and realize that various very wealthy and articulate personalities in the network news media, Hollywood and entertainment industry stars, Secret Society and New Age leaders, corporate global elites, the heads of pro-abortion and militant homosexual and lesbian lobbying fronts, are really secular "false prophets." Yes, they are all men and women that Christ shed His blood to ransom and redeem, but, in the present moment, they are under a counterfeit anointing and are being used for corrupt, controlling and destructive purposes. In some instances huge sums of money, bribery, seduction and control are being exerted to influence and if possible, literally buy or otherwise procure election outcomes. The "powers" of mammon, the occult and witchcraft are operating "big-time" in Campaign 2000. These "powers" are coupled with "rulers of darkness in high places" and function in tandem with lying spirits and spirits of anti-Christ always working to resist the "anointed ones" and "the anointed way" against the Word, the Way and the redemptive direction God would intend our nation to travel.

But, the Church in the place of prayer can and must proclaim the finished work of Christ and affirm that He has stripped and vanquished all principalities, powers and rulers of darkness. (Colossians 1:12-20, 2:15) What are other biblical "kingdom" prayer positions we might take at this critical time?

THAT THE LORD ANOINT, SUSTAIN AND PROTECT HIS APPOINTED "VOICES" IN EACH CAMPAIGN, from national to state to local the men and women who are appointed to speak truth to the body politic, "the people," bringing them into understanding and reasoned perspectives from differing political working philosophies, so that the citizenry can vote according to the dictates of an objective and biblically informed conscience.

THAT THE LORD GRANT PUBLIC PLATFORMS AND OBJECTIVE MEDIA EXPOSURE TO HIS APPOINTED STATESMEN, MESSENGERS AND PUBLIC SERVANTS.

THAT THE LORD "CONFOUND AND CONFUSE" THE TONGUES OF HIS ADVERSARIES. Psalms 55:9; 64:8; and that He resist and annul the attempts to deceive and control being made through "false prophets" in the media and society.

THAT THE LORD DELIVER THE PEOPLE FROM THE POWER OF MAMMON, WITCHCRAFT, INTIMIDATION, THE FEAR OF MAN, AND DIABOLICAL MANIPULATIONS.

THAT THE LORD EXPOSE AND THWART TACTICS OF FEAR, BRIBERY AND COERCION, and that spirits of deception, lying, fear, control and the occult be bound.

THAT THE LORD GRANT AND CULTIVATE AN ATMOSPHERE OF LIBERTY in the fear of God at the voting polls and in the voting booths; that "the people" are free to vote according to the dictates of their conscience.

THAT THE LORD NOT ALLOW OUR SITTING PRESIDENT TO VIOLATE THE WORD OF GOD CONCERNING JERUSALEM AND THE JEWISH PEOPLE. (Zechariah 12, Jeremiah 33)

THAT THE CONSTITUTIONAL COVENANTAL UNITY OF OUR NATION BE PRESERVED.

IFA CALLING FOR A NOVEMBER 5 - 7 "ESTHER" VIGIL WITH CONCERTED PRAYER THROUGH ELECTION DAY - It is becoming increasingly evident that concerned Christians will need to remain engaged in watchful, concerted supplication and intercession through the close of the campaigns and the whole of Election Day, Tuesday, November 7th - time zone by time zone across America. IFA would appeal to pastors to consider opening their church facilities for a 24-hour or at least dawn-to-dusk prayer and fasting vigil on Tuesday, Nov. 7th. While it is excellent that Sunday, November 5th is now set to be observed as a nationwide "Pray...For Election Day," we cannot afford to let down our prayer guard when Sunday ends. Those Christian households who are functioning as "Lighthouses" in their neighborhoods are asked to gather and pray for "their neighbors" before and on Election Day. Prayer partners and individual intercessors are exhorted to "stand in the gap," and to fast and pray as the Lord directs. The potential destruction and severity of the hour that is facing "the people" of America can be likened to that facing the Jewish people. Since Esther is a type or picture of the Church, the Bride of Christ, His intended Queen, then like Esther and Mordecai, let us humble ourselves and yield to be servants to "the people." Like Esther, let us make careful personal preparation and then go in before the King. (Esther 4:1-5:3) Through the blood of Christ we have privilege, audience and invitation. Like Esther, let us be humble but bold, for these words of the King are written: "Ask what you will, up to half the kingdom."

LIEBERMAN EXCOMMUNICATED FOR STANCES ON ABORTION, HOMOSEXUALITY - A rabbinical court in Brooklyn, New York, has excommunicated vice presidential candidate Joseph Lieberman, according to CNSNEWS.com. "While claiming to be an observant Jew, Lieberman has been misrepresenting and falsifying to the American people the teachings of the Torah against partial birth infanticide, against special privileges and preferential treatment for flaunting homosexuals, and against religious intermarriage of Jews," the court stated. The court says it represents the Jews of Brooklyn and perhaps as many as 150,000 Orthodox Jews.

NATIONAL PRAYER COMMITTEE CONCERT OF PRAYER RADIO CAMPAIGN - Intercessors are asked to pray for the success of a campaign that would make -minute prayer spots available to all Christians by year's end.

WHITE RIBBON AGAINST PORNOGRAPHY CAMPAIGN OCTOBER 29 - NOVEMBER 5 - Americans are urged to wear a small white ribbon on Sunday, October 29th in support of decency in America. During WRAP 2000 (White Ribbon Against Pornography 2000), Americans are urged to write letters to the presidential candidates (form letters can be found at the WRAP Web site), congressional leaders and to their state Attorney General to ask them their stance on anti-pornography initiatives in their areas. LIGHT THE NIGHT OCTOBER 31 - In addition to alternative "harvest" parties sponsored by local churches, many Christian families are now "lighting" their yards and homes in special ways and using the annual Halloween night of neighborhood "trick-or-treating" as a time to welcome neighborhood children and parents, to pass out tracts, and to offer to pray for their felt needs. IVORY COAST ELECTIONS END IN UPRISING - GUEI FLEES - Two days after General Robert Guei disbanded the National Election Commission and declared himself the winner, Opposition leader Laurent Gbagbo has taken power and Guei has fled to Benin. Tens of thousands are demonstrating in the streets. Pray for violence to subside and for peace to be restored.

INDONESIAN CHRISTIANS FACING DEATH - Church leaders in Ambon, Indonesia, believe that 100,000 Christian refugees are about to be besieged by Islamic jihad fighters, according to "Religion Today." The refugees are crammed into 10% of the island. Catholic Bishop Joseph Tethool said "If there are no ships waiting to evacuate them, they will be forced to choose between Islam or death."

SUPPORT FOR PERSECUTED EAST INDIAN CHRISTIANS SOUGHT - The American Christian Coalition is holding a National Conference on October 28 in Washington, DC, to form a national coalition of East Indian churches to counter the persecution of the Christian minority in India.
