CAUGHT IN THE WINEPRESS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
There is coming in the heavenlies a clash between lawlessness and righteousness that will shake the nations. If you have been feeling pressed on every side by the issues of life around you – you are not alone. This is the prelude to the ‘in your face’ lawlessness that is quickly rising. Those of God’s children who have said ‘Lord my life is yours’ are finding themselves caught in the Winepress of Righteousness.
Lawlessness is the opposite of righteousness and righteousness is what God requires of His people. We haven’t understood the meaning or importance of righteousness in our walk. To many it has simply meant: ‘ Right standing with God’. That is not a correct definition. Nice saying – wrong application. The Blood of Jesus Christ brings us into right standing with God.
Righteousness is the character and nature of God. Melchizedek translates: King of Righteousness. Righteousness is how Jesus executes justice. It is the principle of justice. Abraham believed God and it was accounted (credited) to him for righteousness. It is something we can accumulate. Grow in.
It comes when we believe what God says and choose His ways and thoughts over our own. Deut. 6:25 ‘ Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the Lord our God, as He has commanded us.’ Psalm 4:5 ‘ Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.’
It is a transformation process: Psalm 23:3 ’He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake’ & Psalm 17:15 ‘ As for me, I will see your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in your likeness’
It is God’s rod of correction against lawlessness…Psalm 45:6 ‘ Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom.’
It brings healing to those who fear His name…Mal.4: 2 ‘But to you who fear My name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; and you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves.’
We are to present our members as instruments of righteousness to God (Romans 6:13) and become slaves of righteousness (Romans 6:18)
‘All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.’ (2 Tim 3:16)
There is a crown of righteousness. (2 Tim 4:8) and His kingdom is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit! (Romans 14:17)
These are just a few examples of the true meaning of righteousness. We need to become students of righteousness, it’s part of the transformation process into His image. As you believe in him, and in the power of the gospel, His righteousness is revealed from faith to faith; the just shall live by faith. (Romans 1:17)
The Body of Christ is the rod of correction on this earth toward lawlessness. Where sin abounds, grace abounds much more. And grace reigns through righteousness! (Romans 5:20-21)
The early church reigned in great power and great grace. (Acts 4:32-33) You cannot have one without the other. Great power is coming to the Body of Christ. We need to be people of great grace that reign through righteousness.
Which brings me to the Winepress of Righteousness. A winepress is used to excavate or dig out the juice within the grape. The Lord has been raining down on His people blessings and manna of revelation from heaven. He has come into His vineyard to inspect His fruit. The winepress applies pressure to your life to examine the wine that flows out. Is it the wine of righteousness or lawlessness? We must understand there is nothing in between. If our thoughts, actions, and motives of our heart are not of His character and nature, then it is lawlessness in His eyes.
Isaiah 5:1,2 & 7 ‘ My Well-Beloved has a vineyard on a very fruitful hill. He dug it up and cleared out its stones and planted it with the choicest vine. He built a tower in its midst, and also made a winepress in it; so He expected it to bring forth good grapes, but it brought forth wild grapes…He looked for justice, but behold, oppression; for righteousness, but behold, a cry for help (wailing).’
Our Beloved is coming into His vineyard for an inspection,
expecting to find righteousness in our lives. There will be many inspections.
With each one we will grow in grace as He gently points out & uproots
the lawlessness still in our hearts. We will experience many moments in
the winepress until the day comes when the wine flows freely in the righteousness
of His kingdom.
Great Grace!
