Battle Of The Firstborn

Dear Messianic Israelite,

I would like to offer up, for my family and myself, a round of praise and thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father for His faithfulness towards us this past summer. Not having even half the amount needed to launch out on this adventure when we started, we watched His hand move before us as we traveled over 20 thousand miles by air and another 12 thousand in vehicles. Even the children, though not with us the whole time, could not help but be in awe at what took place. Divine appointment after Divine appointment occupied our time and dominated our relationships. Some of you know that all future plans were contingent on Him getting us to each location, and everything fell into place as He allowed it. Some of our plans did not materialize, and only hindsight clarified the reasons.

We also want to thank you for your participation in this venture. We cherish your friendship very much. Even if we do not remember all the names that 'go' with all the faces, or the faces with the names, yet we are (all) learning to connect from the hearts upon which our Father is branding His Torah within our renewed covenant being.

No matter what the future might hold, we do love you and are looking forward to the day when we all, as the United Kingdom of Israel, will be living together in the land of our inheritance.

Many of you seem to like the personal testimonies in these weekly letters. But please bear with this one, as I would like to share a dream I had the first night after we had returned from the trip. It actually occurred three times during that night. I saw what looked like a bridge on which two armies were fighting in hand to hand combat. It seemed that the fighting might have been going on for a while, as the combatants were standing and fighting on stacks of dead comrades. I could not make out who was who, because it was taking place in the early morning hours, or in late evening. Each time I awoke I heard the words, "battle of the firstborn". During the following week I was taken ill with a virus. For several nights I dreamt of pending troubles. Each of those dreams was characterized by huge thunderstorms; at times three were going on at different points on the horizon all at once. I could only see them at a distance, as none of them were close to me.

Most of you who know us are aware of what we have been saying for years, and that is that we are headed for what we used to call the "battle with the surrounding nations". This, of course, is not something new and unusual for the House of Judah, as they have been battling for their national survival with these surrounding nations for the past 100 years, even centuries.

What made this dream about this bridge and the armies warring on it different?

Last week we had gone and visited a good friend in one of the settlements. When we arrived he was very distant and cold toward us, a posture which was not typical of him in our previous contacts. When inquiring, he pulled out a pamphlet that was written by a leading Rabbi of the settlements. It was a very negative but true observation of the Christian groups that are supportive of the settlements, whose motivations are not trusted by the Rabbis. Our friend had begun to suspect that those who present themselves as Ephraimites belong to the same camp. He declared that he did not want to be used by the Christian gentiles for their purposes (as part of their dispensational theology). After about two hours of intense conversation we were able to re-establish trust and convince him, with the help of the Holy Spirit, that the people we represent are not the same as these Christian organizations. However, in the course of conversation I began to understand the dream.

The bridge is the two portions, which constitute the "West Bank", Judea and Samaria. These are the lands of the two leading tribes of the house of Jacob - Ephraim and Judah. Both have firstborn status in the family. However, the battle I saw was not between the two of them, but between the Arabs (surrounding nations) and Judah.

Who are the Arabs and more specifically the Palestinians? I believe they are made up of the firstborn, as listed in Ps 83: Esau, Amalek, Ishmael, Moab and Ammon. They are fighting Judah on this land bridge called Judea and Samaria. Why in this particular location? Because that area belongs to the two leading families of Jacob. The winner, who will gain this as an inheritance along with Jerusalem, will also have the dominion in the earth. This is the battle of the firstborn, it is the same battle that raged in the womb of Rebecca. My question to Ephraim is: will he join Judah as God's mighty man for this hour, or will he turn back as he did in the days of old? "The sons of Ephraim were archers equipped with bows, yet they turned back in the day of battle, they did not keep the covenant of God and refused to walk in His Torah" (Ps. 78:9-10).

We believe the Ephraimites have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light for such a time as this, as a witness that is to be seen. We know that God always works with a remnant. Judah is looking for his brothers, the ten lost tribes; will they find a true son of the covenant returning from the nations with an obedient heart toward Torah, an arrow straight and true, prepared for the bow? Ephraim and Judah are destined to be a mighty weapon in His hand; walking together in the land of their fathers; an army with the Lord of the Armies at its head.

In the following days we will be sending some very sobering information, please read it carefully. Reality is about to dawn and we need the watchman on the Hills of Ephraim to be alert and ready. The cost to redeem this land may be a heavy one. Ephraim, you have been given the blessing of the double portion, the means to redeem that which has been lost. As a firstborn you do not belong to yourself, you belong to God! Therefore do not make the mistake of Cain or Ananias and Sapphira by withholding the tithe, the first fruit, that which belongs to YHVH. We can get a glimpse of how that money is used in Jeremiah 32 and 2 Chronicles 34:9-10. I will be sharing more on this subject at a later date.

In the meantime have a very blessed Holiday time, remember the Feasts of the Lord are prophetic in that they are shadows of things yet to come. (see Col. 2:16-17).

Shabbat Shalom, Shevet Achim

"Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell (shevet achim) together in unity...for there the Lord commanded the blessing - life eternal" (Ps 133).
