Trust & Burden Bearing
Deborah Voetberg

Recently I have noticed Intercessors & Burden Bearers being consumed by darkness. Heaviness is upon them, and the light of the Lord, dim. We have only just started to experience the darkness God has warned us about. But His call to us is 'Arise and Shine for your light has come! ' ( Isaiah 60:1-3 ) God will never hold back understanding...His plan for us is to prosper in His ways! ( Jeremiah 29:11-13 & Job 32:8 ) He desires that we prosper as His Burden Bearers in the days to come to the praise of His glory. A deeper foundation of trust must be laid in our lives to carry His burden. We are to be His light!

As a servant of Almighty God we learn how to carry the burdens of others to the Lord. In that service, trust is established between you and the Lord. You will come to a place where He no longer calls you servant, but friend. He does nothing without telling His friends first. ( Amos 3:7, Gen. 18:17 & John 15:14 & 15 ) Then as His friend, He will give you His burdens to carry concerning His people and you step into Burden Bearing Prophetic Intercession. Praying the heart of the Father!

Trust is to be the first layer of our foundation that all things are built upon. ( Proverbs 3:5 & 6 ) Trust determines the treasures that we store in our hearts. Luke 6:45 says that we are responsible for what is in the treasure of our hearts. Proverbs 20:27 says that the spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord searching all the inner depths of his heart. When we are saved, the Spirit of the Lord goes searching into our hearts for the contents of it's treasure. If the foundation is not laid with trust then He will instruct us on how to re-lay the foundation through His word. But we must do what He says or the foundation will fall according to Luke 6:46-49.

A foundation of Trust is crucial to Burden Bearing. You see Trust is the capacity to hold our hearts open. to be vulnerable...to be able to unfold, get trampled upon and keep blooming. It is the courage to "BE". To identify, but not take ownership of the burden.

Satan's plan has always been to destroy the family of God. Eph. 3:14 & 15 says that God is the Father from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named! Over the last one hundred years we have seen the destruction of the image and character of the 'Father' in our families. We are the temple of God. Built on the foundation of the Father. destroy the foundation....destroy the temple!

Affectionate touch by fathers to their children was established by God to seal trust in the hearts of God's children to draw them into an intimate relationship with Him. If that touch has been perverted or neglected, then we become fearful of intimacy, unsure of it's motive and our hearts become guarded! Trust has been destroyed, and with it the hope of intimacy with our Heavenly Father.

The Holy Spirit will search out our hearts to enable us to forgive and receive the perfect love of the Father that cast out all fear! ( 1 John 4:17-19 ) This restores Trust! With Trust established, we become an effective Burden Bearer. Burden Bearing is the primary role of this prophetic generation! It is the ability to identify & empathize with another or the Lord. Our ability or inability to Burden Bear sets the limit on our intimacy with the Lord and our effectiveness in serving Him.

In Gal. 6:1-5 Paul addresses those who are spiritual ( mature ) to be gentle with others, considering our own weaknesses and to rejoice in the work God is doing in our lives and not that He used us to 'fix' our brother or sister. Each one is responsible to bear his own burden, it is the Holy Spirit who is searching our hearts. We alone must choose to pay the price of humbling ourselves under the mighty hand of God. When our brother or sister is struggling under the load of their weakness...we bear their burden before the Lord until they are able to stand once again.

Here are some examples of Burden Bearing. Paul in 2 Cor. 11:24-29, was burden for the churches beyond what he ever physically endured under persecution. " Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to stumble, and I do not burn with indignation?" Moses. Exodus 32:31-35.'Blot me out of your book if you will not forgive their sin'. Moses was willing to lay down his own life because he knew the presence of the Father and so knew His heart. In Exodus 33:12-23 he said they would not move unless the presence of God moved with them. He also learned the importance of being hidden in the Cleft of the Rock, covered by God's hand, to experience His glory. In the presence of the Father you will walk carrying His heart and also the peoples heart...all that you speak, think, pray and do comes out of that burden!

Jesus knew the presence of the Father. He emptied Himself of all of His glory to become a man and redeem His Father's children back to Him! We must empty ourselves of past or present issues, regrets, unforgiveness...so that Jesus can pour in His & the Father's burdens!

Samson. Selfish, self-centered, did not carry the burden of the Lord . He was unaware that the presence of God had left him until he went to manifest it's power. In the end he was consumed with the Father's Burden because he had learn the value of His presence.

Jonah. Strong-willed, hasty...Didn't want to carry the burden of the Lord to Nineveh through the prophetic word he had received. These were his enemies! He wanted them destroyed. The word was delivered, Nineveh saved, Jonah faded into obscurity!

Do you become burden down? There should be a lifting or reprieve of the burden, as we pray and release it to the Lord. Feel what the person or the Lord is feeling. identify with it, bring it to the Lord and pray through the release . As you intercede & speak, the release of the spirit comes and God takes over. If it doesn't lift, either you have not released it or there is an issue in your heart triggered by the burden that must be released to God for Him to heal. As a Burden Bearer you are a walking radar for whatever is lurking around you. If you struggle with rejection, you will take ownership of every angry spirit you sense, whether it is toward you or not. If your foundation is Trust, then you will develop discernment to know what is your heart, the heart of others, the Lord 's heart.

Watch out for the Messiah & Holy Spirit Syndrome! Do not rescue people. Those who do not want the responsibility of their own load will find a vessel whose identity is in the rescuing of others. We are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in us. ( Phil. 2:12 & 13 ) Sympathy will connect you in a unholy way to someone. ( Soul Ties ) Empathy will have you identify, understand, bear their burden when they are weak and point them toward Jesus!

Spiritual Miscarriages! 2 Kings 2:19-22 says ". the water is bad, and the ground barren. " This city was beautiful & pleasant, but the water that was to nourish and sustain the city brought death instead of life. Salt was used to bring healing and purify the water to once again bring forth life. Spiritual miscarriages are dreams, hopes & desires that were placed in your spirit that were lost before they even took their first breath! As in a natural miscarriage, our grief over the loss is sometimes unrecognized, or not identified. If the death is not reconciled with God, it is left in our spirits and we carry the death within us. We are unable to sustain life! We must be carriers of life to carry the burden of the Lord. An example of this is found in Gen.11:31&32. Terah, the father of Abraham, Nahor & Haran set out for Canaan land. The family arrived in the city of Haran and dwelt there. Haran reminded Terah of his son Haran who had died and Terah was never able to move past that death. He died in Haran. God's name is " I AM ". He is a NOW God who wants us to reconcile all our past to Him, so that we can become carriers of life!

When God says No! We pray & repentance doesn't come from those whose burdens we are carrying. The prophet Jeremiah experienced this most of his life! He carried the burden of the people and the Lord for Israel and in Lamentations 3:18-24 feels completely undone! Hope is dashed, shattered beyond repair. But he recalls that his hope is not in what he has done, but in the character and faithfulness of God. The Lord was his portion for life!

Understanding the revelation of the presence of the Lord in our lives will release the Glory of God to shine through the lamps of our spirits and reflect His image and not that of this world. Job answered the Lord in Job 42:5.." I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you! " Our identity is in the fullness of our Father! Our hearts open because we Trust Him. Our lamps shining with His love. We are at rest because it is He who is at work!

A Burden Bearer is:

Intimate with the Father
Hidden in Christ
Lives in God's presence - Now
Empties himself to carry life
Rejoices in what brings God joy
Broken by what breaks God's heart
A friend of God!
Blessings to all!
