Prayer of Intercession
An Intercession poem by Lindsey, age 15

I am an intercessor
I lay on my face humbly before the Lord
pouring my whole heart out
Asking for cleansing of anything I have done that was bad

The Spirit falls on me
My muscles tighten
My toes curl
My fists clench
My belly doubles over in pain
My heart breaks and my eyes fill with tears

I know the Lord's sorrow that his people bring him
how disgusted he is with their sin and darkness
I feel his pain
his longing for an upright people with yielded hearts
and me
the person who has been chosen to listen to him
is one of the people who hurt him

My soul groans audibly
have mercy on your people
Please forgive us for our sin and foolishness

And he does

Then he blows upon me and gives me peace and joy
