A Reminder

Jesus is Coming Soon; a Reminder!

Yesterday, we were very clearly warned by the Holy Spirit of the need to be prepared for Jesus' coming. And that He will come unexpectedly, and then there will be no more time. The time for preparation will cease and the doors of opportunity will close. Jesus is coming sooner than we expect!

Rom 13:11-14 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

We are living on Holy Island which is linked to the mainland by a causeway that allows access 10 hours a day in 2 spells of 5 hours. Yesterday the tide table said we could get safely off the island up till 4.29, so armed with the knowledge that we were safe we set off in our car at 4.10 (the tables usually give 30 mins leeway). It was dark, and the first 2.5 miles of causeway were clear, but suddenly we saw water on the road in front of us and our reaction was to press on, for this was the last stretch before safety. The wind was howling, and was, in fact blowing the incoming tide quickly on to the causeway long before the due time. It was scary to find the car completely drenched by seawater. We emerged to see the next stretch of road being rapidly covered as we drove forward, but there was no turning back! (This would have meant a mile reversing in the dark on sand flats!) We made it safely without any damage but a complete soak of salt water (which is absolutely no good for the car's bodywork!). After attending church on the mainland, we had to wait a full hour after the opening time of the tide before gaining access, and even then there was water on the road!

It is a fearful thing to be confronted with the force of wind and tide blocking access to the way ahead;. These are forces which can only be turned back supernaturally. But there are forces at work that we are commanded to turn back

Rom 13 v 12-14 Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

(This includes religion and all forms of outward observance that comes from self righteousness. These things Jesus hated above all.)

There follows a brief list of what we should be doing as a reminder;

Above all have fervent love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins 1 Pet 4 v 8

Walking in the Spirit, and casting off the works of darkness Rom 12 v 12

Go on being filled with the Spirit like the 5 wise virgins (Matt 25 v 1ff)

Be good stewards of the grace of God 1Pet 4 v 10

Use your God given talents because there will be both accountability and rewards Matt 25

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers 1Pet 4 v 7

Prepare for the judgement and preach the gospel in and out of season.

Be sober and vigilant because your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion 1Pet5.8
