September 18, 1998--
I had a dream. In the dream I was driving down a road in a canyon in a white pickup truck with my wife. I looked up ahead and saw a white wolf jumping a fence, and then saw a white sheep jump up ahead of the wolf. My inclination was to take the rifle from the gun rack in my truck and step out of the truck to get a good shot in order to kill the wolf before it got the sheep. But, the Holy Spirit checked me and told me to stay in the truck. Then, we got a little closer to where the wolf was, and could see that it was a mechanical wolf and a mechanical sheep. They were set in motion by a laser beam that crossed the highway. As I was sitting there looking at the absurdity of this mechanical wolf, I spotted about a dozen real wolves in the brush. Then many wolves, probably about 100, came out and gathered around the truck. At that point, it became obvious that the mechanical wolf was a trap to draw me out of the safety of the vehicle. If I had not listened to the voice of the Spirit, I would have been attacked.

Interpretation: The Holy Spirit has been telling us to stay in safe habitations for some time now. The white truck represented the safe habitation of righteousness in Christ. The inclination to use the rifle represented a temptation to use worldly weapons, or to take matters into our own hands, but the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to pull down strongholds. The white wolf and sheep as bait represented a seducing spirit sent to get us out of safe habitations. Even though it seemed like a good cause, it was still a trap. The Lord is warning us to stay in Him and not be seduced even by situations that seem noble. The key is to be found in Him, walking in the Spirit, so that when Satan's snares come, we are not seduced into places of danger.
