As I was reading the word this morning the thought came to me about the way that most people are teaching others about holiness. They are telling people that they should not commit sin and that sin is against God's nature and that God will judge sin. But then they turn right around and tell the same people that they can not live a holy life on this side of the grave. This is where I got the title to this little message.

If we are suppose to live a Holy life by the command of the Lord and by the teaching of the men of God of old and by the written teachings of the Bible that we have today and are also by the teachings of our modern day preachers but then we are also told we will never be able to do it. That to me is the stupidity of holiness. Why would the Lord command us to live Holy and the prophets and Apostles teach us the same thing and then preachers preach it the same way, then turn around and say BUT now understand we know that no one, NOT EVEN HOLY ME can live it. You know no one is or can be perfect. They also say don't watch me I will disappoint you. But the Bible says "be ye perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect".

Here is the question that I have. Is God some kind of cruel prankster? Was the Apostles and Prophets giving people a law that could not be obeyed? Are we today just saying nice words about a theory of Christianity and holiness as a life style? Or did God mean what He said "without Holiness NO MAN will see GOD". Should we not just believe the prophets of old when they were telling the people the truth, that if they did not turn from their sin God would judge them with many of the curses that God told them about and that He would raise up others nations to bring them into physical captivity when they failed to keep His commandments. What do you think? Did the apostles who were anointed by the Holy Ghost that wrote the New Testament mean what they were saying when they told the people of God "let not these things be named ONCE among you". Did they mean what they said?

Hey believe me God is not confused about this thing called Holiness if anyone is confused it is the people that are teaching others that they can not live above the power of sin in this life. Why would a Holy God tell His people to do something that was impossible? If He (GOD) did that then He would be a liar and then He could not be GOD, because God can not lie.

As a believer we must believe that with every command of God there must also be the provision of ability to keep that commandment. God in the beginning gave man the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He also gave man a free will. This was the provision to keep the commandment of not eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

The ability of man to keep the commandment of God was not an impossible task then and is still not impossible today "it was and is just a choice of love". It all came down to this Adam loved the pleasure that he had been enjoying with his wife Eve (his flesh) more that he (Adam) was enjoying his pleasure with God. His will made the choice.

Was it impossible for Adam and Eve to keep God's commandment in the beginning? Of course not! They just wanted to do what they wanted to do more than what God wanted them to do. This is the same problem that we all have today and it has and always will be the root of the problem in the area of Holiness. Man loves the pleasure of his flesh MORE than he loves his fellowship in the spirit with GOD. Men have always made excuses why they have sinned and for why they keep on sinning. Adam blamed God and Eve. Preachers today are still blaming God when they say that their flesh is weak. God you are wrong for giving me this weak flesh and then demanding me to live holy. They are really blaming God when they say that you can not live a completely Holy life while you are still in your flesh (this is the same thing that Adam did, he too blamed his flesh "Eve" ) when he said she gave it to me and I ate it. But before he blamed his flesh he blamed God for giving him this flesh (the woman you gave me).

If we are going to teach people that they CAN NOT live this HOLY LIFE then don't teach them that they SHOULD LIVE A HOLY LIFE. If I can not live it, then I should NOT have to live it. This is where the doctrine of ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED comes in. Which the bible don't not teach.

When we tell a person that he should do something (stop sinning) and then turn right around and make him believe that he can not do it we put him in bondage. Here is where we find the real source of this type of teaching "A Spirit of Religion". They promise people freedom from the LAW but really put them in bondage to sin. You see if we tell them that they should and must live this holy life to please a Holy God and then tell them that they can not. Then we must then provide them with some way of pleasing this Holy God. The way becomes religion, (not a relationship with a living God) come to church, pay your tithes, pray everyday, read your bible everyday, go door to door, ect. When I preach about what you SHOULD be DOING but tell you, remember I also told you that it is impossible for you to do it you are in bondage. I need to then give you a way out. So then I will have an altar call after I preach and challenge you to do something that is impossible for you to do. So when you come up to "my alter", I will even give you my special prayer that I will tell you to repeat because you are not holy enough to think of one yourself and that you can not be as close to God as I am. Does this sound like any thing that you have heard in church where you attend? Man I was even under conviction while I was writing this as I have been guilty of the same sin in the past. God hates that religious spirit.

Here is what God wants His people to believe! If God tells them to do something He means what He says and that He will also empower them to do IT!!!!. This takes the power away from the preacher, it also takes the dependence of the people on the preacher and puts it on the LORD and His Holy Spirit. We all know that in the power of our flesh lives no good thing but in the power of the Holy Ghost is the power to do the will of God. That is why God sent us His own Holy Spirit so we could LIVE the HOLY life. Which is required of all that will be able to see God. So let all of us that call our selves PREACHERS of the GOSPEL (the good news) tell everyone that we meet that not only does God command all to repent of their rebellion but He also requires all to live a Holy spotless life that is free form sin here and now. That is good news if you don't know it. He also will give anyone that obeys Him the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will then come into this believer and empower him to die to his own selfish desires and live a Holy life filled with the Love of God. This is the Gospel the good news to be free from the bondage of sin and to be full of the Love of God. What do you think?

Let us not continue to preach the "Stupidity of Holiness". But let us preach the Beauty and reality of Holiness, that will allow us to see God. Living a life of Holiness is not a theory it is a reality that was purchased by the Holy life and pure blood sacrifice of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. This promise is for anyone who will dare to believe the TRUTH that was passed down to all of us through the prophets ,Apostles, and through the Holy Ghost in the written and spoken word of God. We must be a believer to receive this, not a unbeliever. So many preacher have made unbelievers out of so many who would have believed the truth if it were only told to the people of God.

We all have a burning desire within us to live Holy because this is the desire of God who is trying to work within you his perfect will for your life and His kingdom. It is also the reality of the presence of the down payment of the Holy Ghost that put this desire in our hearts and mind. So don't be STUPID nor be a STUPID teacher of this wonderful truth of Holiness. Tell them not only should they live Holy but THAT THEY CAN, IN JESUS NAME and through the power of HIS HOLY GHOST. If you continue to sin don't make any excuses why you can not live Holy just confess that "YOU DON'T WANT TO".
