Vision: November 9, 1998

I was awake most of last night praying. I kept seeing a horrible devouring spirit being released. It seemed like what is described in Revelations 9: 1-5, where the abyss opened up and new demons were released on the earth. I saw large wolves and little imp-like things. I felt the physical sensations of a sword in my heart and my body being torn apart.

I had the sense that if this spirit has its way and is allowed to fulfill its mission, there will be absolutely nothing left of the Body of Christ. Devouring will go to an unprecedented level. Everyone will tear everyone else apart. I especially felt that leaders were vulnerable, that anybody with any strength to give to others has been targeted.

During my night vigil, I felt like I was interceding, along with many others, to intercept this demonic strategy. I received a strong warning that Christians need to be strong soldiers and be alert to promptings to lash out and devour others. We need to resist any urges to devour even if we have been wounded and feel justified in getting angry.

I also saw that the unleashing of this devouring spirit presents an opportunity for us to experience Jesus on a new level. As we overcome by praying for those who offend us when we feel like lashing out, He will flow through us like a river of compassion, flow out of us in an unprecedented way. This demonic strategy will backfire and release more of the love of Jesus in the church if Christians remain alert and resist this devouring spirit.

I felt led to get this warning out.
